Original classical bassoon for sale that plays very well. Maker unknown, but estimated to have been made in the first half of the 19th century. A beautiful instrument that appears to be in fantastic condition and very playable, with a good even scale and warm sound. May need a service, which we could do for additional cost, although it plays well as-is.
Made from beautiful figured maple wood, with natural stripes.
Plays well with good intonation and scale, at around 430Hz, subject to suitable crook and reed selection.
This bassoon has no stamp, and so its maker and exact date of manufacture is unknown. The stamp is likely to have been sanded away at some point in its history, which sometimes happens during re-finishing.
This is a 12 key bassoon. It does not have a case or crook, but we can provide a baroque/classical bassoon gig bag at additional cost.
